Where Umami is better

  • A bigger free allowance (100,000 events against 40,000 pageviews).
  • Funnels, journeys, and retention even on the free plan; replays and heatmaps higher up.
  • Open source, so it can be self-hosted.

Where PageHum is better

  • Uptime from several regions, page checks, browser flows, and a status page.
  • Client error counts and broken links, with an AI prompt to fix each.
  • Cheaper paid plans ($9 against $20) for small sites.

What PageHum doesn’t do

  • No session replay or heatmaps.
  • Counts only: no per-visitor paths, user profiles, or cohorts.
  • One funnel per site, not many.
  • No stack traces: error messages, pages, browsers, and counts.
  • Homepage checks every 5 minutes, and no SMS or phone alerts yet.
  • Young: launched in 2026, so a short track record and short histories.
